2000 GUINEAS 1857

The 49th winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Tuesday 28th April 1857 over the Rowley Mile, was Vedette (5/2 fav), a brown colt by Voltigeur out of Mrs Ridgeway, owned by the 2nd Earl of Zetland. The winner won by 3/4 length in 1 minute 51 secs, with a head back to the third. A field of 12 runners contested the race which was worth £2,600 (Equivalent to £256,100 in 2017)
